Of Rust & Bone are brand new. They have 44 likes on Facebook (even my dad is more popular), 5 followers on Twitter (once again, even my dad beats that, he has 9, serious) and just under a 1000 plays on SoundCloud. Kids, I’ll be straight with y’all, that’s not much cop. Should they therefore concede an early defeat and retreat back to the lamentable lands of unfulfilled dreams and no ambition? BY NO MEANS!

Bloggers should know stuff. We should. We should be able to say “I saw this band at a crappy pub with two other people and I predict they will be awesome”. Or we should say, “I found this MP3/Youtube video down the back of my sofa, I predict global domination”.

At SGTMT HQ few things make us happier than the joy of music discovery. I mean, it goes without saying that when Tim finally managed to recite the alphabet a few weeks back that was a big highlight (we’re not mentioning to him that he missed out ‘g’ and ‘v’ and there is no such character as ‘h$ft’). Also we were all pretty excited when Tom completed, quite speedily I might add, his Anne of Green Gables Cross Stitch.

Here at SGTMT HQ happiness abounds. We’ve finally got new loo roll (quilted too), Tom’s finally quit biting his nails and Tim has finally discovered deodorant. Good times, finally.
Whilst all these things aid the well-being of planet SGTMT, that’s not the reason for our unseasonal happiness. What has set our hearts a flicker is the discovery of Yank band The Colourist.

First impressions are never to be trusted, books and covers and all that, but GAPS have charmed us in a way that doesn’t happen often to seasoned music bloggers like us. SGTMT HQ gets regularly bombarded by emails, tweets etc from aspiring artists. Most of them make us angry, the horrid lack of originality, skill and basic ear for a tune fill us with blind rage. Why must we get tortured so? Why?

We care about our regular readers. We care so much we’re determined to get get high quality music delivered right to their/ your browser. We care that only the best tunes make it onto the hallowed turf of the SGTMT turntables. This is our manifesto, our motto, our vision, our dying determination. Goodness, it’s getting all weepy. We care a lot.
But then we drink too much coffee, we can’t sleep and we write ill-thought out posts about the glories of Singapore Deep House, and when we look back months (minutes) later the glories aren’t quite so apparent…
