The Blog Sound Of 2013

Every January the beeb publishes their BBC Sound Of (insert year) list. The fact that they don’t ask our help in compiling this list isn’t a problem, it’s really not. I mean, we are the world’s most respected authority of new music criticism AND we are, like, the best and all but, we don’t take it personally that they didn’t ask us (chumps).

To sorta complement the BBC’s list (but not in a ‘why didn’t you ask us?’ way, seriously we’re OVER it) a group of bloggers have taken it upon ourselves to create our own list; The Blog Sound Of 2013.

The Blog Sound of 2013 poll (it first took place in 2011) has expanded with 49 UK blogs nominating their 5 favourite emerging artists. Just over 170 acts received at least 1 vote. The winning act received votes from around 25% of all bloggers.

Thanks to Robin Seamer (Breaking More Waves) and Andy Von Pip (The Von Pip Express) for making this happen. Top chaps. Robin writes:

“Each blog was allowed to vote for five acts and the diversity of the nominations was staggering. Based on the evidence of the spread of votes anyone that says that music bloggers are sheep and are all writing about the same artists has got it wrong. However, the results of the poll show that certain artists do have a lot of support and love from a significant portion of UK bloggers and those artists make up the Blog Sound of 2013 list,”

So, without further ado (suffice to say this is a mighty fine list), here follows The Blog Sound Of 2013 long-list of 15 artists. The winner will be announced on the 3rd January.
