Well, we don’t know yet. The winner of the Mercury Music Prize 2012 isn’t announced till the 1st November. You all knew that already right? Or perhaps we fooled you in the way that over lunch you might point out the window and shout; ‘Look, bear!’ so that you can steal your eating companions cheese sandwich.
How do we think will win? No idea. Every year I have my favourite and they NEVER win. Certainly my fav on this list is Alt J but the bookies seem to going for Richard Hawley. We’ll see.

All this effort, and no comments yet …. well, this will not stand. OK, it’s gotta be ‘The Maccabees’. Not easy listening, not always to my personal taste, but one has to recognise that they are going for it. And even when they fail, they fail with honour. Oh, and I love ‘Unknow’. Yes, I know everyone calls it ‘Unknown’, but the title alone clues you in that these guys are more than the sum of their parts. Aren’t there things YOU would like to ‘unknow’? I have immense numbers; things I have to cover my ears and go ‘na na na na na’ when the memories come back. And it has great guitar, soaring vocals, a wonderful pulse ….. and Catherine from Alpines. What’s not to like.
JESSIE WARE. JESSIE WARE. JESSIE WARE. JESSIE WARE!
that record is so perfect. immaculately produced, and her voice – she’s a superstar.
I like the Jessie Ware record a lot but Plan B deserves the award!!
