It’s been a long day. Long days need punk rock.
So, with punk rock as our destination, we (by we, I obviously mean the infamous inhabitants of SGTMT HQ) set off on a tour of our favourite punk / hardcore / indie rock record labels. Epitaph, Fat Wreck Chords, Xtra Mile and finally the granddaddy of them all, Sub Pop.
We discovered some fine tunes on this tour, and I had the fullest of good intentions to post a selection for your aural pleasures. However, I decided against this for the following valid reasons: 1. That required a lot of ‘cut & pasting’ from SoundCloud and our pritt stick got all jammed up with glitter (Tom’s been making sparkly, sequin dresses again). 2. We found Metz.
Metz are from Canada, they’re kinda a grunge band and have been around since 2008. We like them. Their debut album (self titled, by that I mean it’s called ‘Metz’ not that they titled it themselves. Though I’m sure they probably did title it themselves…) comes out in October and we calmly predict it will BLOW YOUR HEAD SPACES.
Enjoy Wet Blanket:
Also, don’t forget the ear bleedingly excellent Headache:

Whoooo … head spaces blown! Loving this! As for the comment from the guy who wanted the vocal brought forward in ‘Headache’ – no! Bury it in falling piles of metal! Love the abrupt end! Always leave them wanting more!
Oh, going deaf in one ear on ‘Wet Blanket’. No, now it’s cleared. Oh great, repetitive riffing, my favourite. Drop! Drop! And haven’t we all experienced the humiliation of wet blankets? I know I have. And not in a good way.
Incidentally, “Tom’s been making sparkly, sequin dresses again” …. *snort* …. you guys must have endless fun, much like “Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, fighting in the dressing room at the Fillmore East”. Place that esoteric quote, why doncha? Prove you’re a muso. (Or at least that you own the same albums as me, which comes to much the same thing, in my book. It is a slim volume, admittedly. Marlowe, you’re not human tonight. Whoops, slipping genres.)
