Laurel Collective – Jelly Bird

June 21, 2012

I hate jelly. The way it wibbles and wobbles, it’s taunting me, I don’t know what I’m supposed to have done but it taunts me all the same. Jelly doesn’t like me, I don’t like jelly, on that and that alone we agree. Yuk.

Thankfully this song isn’t about jelly. That would put it in the category of dumb kids songs and ill imagined Christmas releases. No, no. In some ways I couldn’t give a whole bunch of hoots about what this song is ‘about’. It’s just a fine indie tune so I won’t try and decipher the lyrical genius behind it, suffice to say, it’s not about jelly and for that I’m grateful.

Laurel Collective are 5 chaps from London who’ve been making music and curating festivals (true story) since 2008. Their debut album Heartbeat Underground (buy it on the iTunes) is out now and to prompt your interest they’ve dropped Jelly Bird for us to enjoy.
