Yeasayer – Henrietta

June 19, 2012

Yeasayer are set to release a follow-up to 2010′s Odd Blood LP, a SGTMT office favourite.

Fragrant World LP has got a lot to live up to; Odd Blood was a heady mix of proper pop songs with a dark underbelly. More of the same please, what are the chances?

The band say that with this record “We definitely try to capture the schizophrenia of what it’s like to be alive today“. Ah good, that sounds promising doesn’t it? The first single sounds very promising indeed; Henrietta is a dubby take on a typical Yeasayer sound, a touch psychedelic, a touch pop song, with that dark underbelly making an appearance at 3:20:

It also has a vignette which is pretty cool:

We’re totally looking forward to hearing Fragrant World now. It’s due on Secretly Canadian on 21st August. Follow the band on Facebook and find out where you can go see them on tour here.
