Miike Snow – Paddling Out (Jacques Lu Cont Remix)

Rice Pudding. Is there a better rice based pudding? I think not. I’m eating it whilst music blogging (check me, multi-tasking). I’m trying to think about some cunning analogy or illustration that can link my eating of rice pudding to this blog post. I’m struggling. I guess if I squint really hard my pudding sort of resembles a small bowl of snow and this remix is of Miike Snow. Wow, I might have a future in this after all…

Moving on.. I don’t really like Miike Snow’s music. I really want to though, the messed up pianos and slinky break-beats are right up my street, but then he starts singing and I immediately want to pelt him viciously with snowballs and beat him unconscious with the superfluous ‘i’.

Fortunately, for any duff tracks redemption can always be found in the art-form most commonly known as ‘the remix’. Old and labouring tunes are made new, misplaced vocals and clunky overlong guitar solos can be striped out, cleaned up and restored afresh by the mighty ‘remix’.

Increasingly the king of this redemptive process is the seemingly invincible Jacques Lu Cont.

Take a listen at his masterful restoration of Paddling Out below:
