I’d been sleeping on Cloud Nothings until recently (so to speak). They’d not crossed my horizon at all until a friend recommended their Attack On Memory LP, which was released last week. This being the man who has throughout my lifetime given me Turbonegro, Minus the Bear, Interpol and At The Drive-In amongst many others, I decided to give them a listen.
I picked 5 or so songs. it sounded like I’d heard 5 or so different bands. Excellent. Stay Useless caught my ear the most:
No Sentiment reminded me of Captain-era Idlewild:
Forget You All The Time, from Cloud Nothings’ eponymous debut is another sound yet again. This being the one made by 18 year-old frontman Dylan Baldi playing Hans Solo, before the band became a four-piece proper:
