Music of the future was supposed to be produced by bands of Chimpanzees playing classical guitar or sophisticated alien lifeforms playing the pan-pipes with their butt cheeks. It was not supposed to sound like my 1986 Acorn computer giving birth to an android Billie Piper, playing pong and accompanied by a thousand wasps each playing miniature distorted guitars. But, here it is, the sound of the future: Born of a computer, android pong rock – TEETH.
Whatever is the debut album from TEETH released a few months back on Moshi Moshi. U R 1 is their latest single and it’s brutally brilliant.
The comparisons with Sleigh Bells and EMA are fairly obvious but TEETH really stand apart. They don’t just deliver a full on wall of digital noise, actually they don’t at all. It’s surprisingly intricate and at points almost delicate, until the crescendo of beats, bleeps and Veronica So’s tuned screeches kicks in. Love it.
In case you missed it you MUST listen to Care Bear also:
TEETH: Care Bear by La 3e heure!
WAIT, WAIT! You must also listen and download (yippee) their remix of City Girl by CSS. We wrote about it already but it is the business.
