Keep an eye on… The Static Jacks

I often crave midget gems. You know the things right? Lots of colours, about the size of your little finger nail, taste like rubber, strangely addictive. The corner shop next to my office sells huge bags of them for only 69p. That makes me happy (and gives me stomach upsets).

I also often crave good ol’ rock and/or roll. You know the type right? Raucous guitars, bashing drums, ill thought out lyrics, bad politics and angry & tattooed (but usually strangely polite and middle class) men. Definitely no bleeps, whistles, synths or casio keyboards insight.

More recently my craving has become much more pronounced, SGTMT has been awash with dubstep, DnB, chillwave, synthwave (whatever that might be) and all sorts of other good music but, well, you know… it’s not quite… ROCK. PUNK. LOUD. AAARRRGHHH!

Thankfully this dropped into my inbox just at the right time, the excellent The Static Jacks.

The Static Jacks hail from New Jersey, yank land. Though oddly, they sound more like a Scottish indie rock act (think We Were Promised Jetpacks). They boast a likeable and tuneful indie rock vibe but without losing the elusive ‘edge’ (not the U2 dude) and ‘energy’ that will mark out any decent band from the dreggs. They’re giving away Girl Parts, wait, that come out wrong, I didn’t mean that…
