Chairlift – Sidewalk Safari

Let me introduce you to my new favourite (Brooklyn based Synth-Pop) band: Chairlift. They may be named after your Grandad’s favoured mode of transport but don’t let that put you off.

Chairlift have a briefish back catalogue of peculiar synth stylings. Each and every track holds hints that maybe, just maybe a hit is hiding up their sleeves but never quite delivers, until 3 days ago that is when they soundclouded (see how I made that a verb?) the pop perfect Sidewalk Safari.

It’s times like these when I glide up to The Hype Machine, put my arm round it’s shoulder (not a full frontal hug mind) and whisper quietly; ‘thank you, thank you’. Hours and hours wasted listening to The XX remixing Foster the People (feat Adele) are all suddenly made worthwhile when you stumble across something as splendid as Chairlift.

Rumours that there next album will be titled ‘Stannah’ are unfortunately false; Something will be released on the 23rd January.
