This just hit our radar. Actually someone emailed it to us, sadly we don’t own a radar.
Mercy is the lead track from the latest album from Light FM – Buzz Kill City. You can purchase it on iTunes here. Light FM are from LA and are just about to tour with the Smashing Pumpkins, the fit is obvious.
I tend to be less willing to post Yank bands. It’s not some misguided racism, we just get a tonne of emails from across the pond and most of the bands sound the same (like The Strokes before guitar lessons). However, every now and again I drop my guard and one sneaks through. Light FM made it.
At first listen they sound like a ‘made for US teen soap soundtrack’ band but that’s not entirely true, though they have been heard on Gossip Girls, The Hills and a few others (not by me I might add). Tracks like Homeless Love Anthem & Kill The Landlord give a grittier feel without ditching their obvious pop sensibilities.
I really don’t know if they’ll cut it over here in the UK but I hope they come tour and give it a crack nonetheless.
