So here we go people ‘Y’. I can feel the excitement trembling across the broadband cables. Phew. So with no further delay I give you the all conquering yvynyl to take the ‘Y’ spot in our trans solar system famous A to Z of Music Blogs.
Origin – yvynyl (why vinyl) tumbles out of Philadelphia. It’s been spinning vinyl since 2007. In blog years that’s well into middle age.
Frequency and style – yvynyl keep us amused at least 3 to 4 times a day. There posts are short, snappy and to the point.
Platform – Tumblr
Music taste – Still trying to figure this out. Lots of experimental electronica, some lo-fi indie and more.
Recent artists covered – Wild Vibes, U.S. Girls, Ela Orleans, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Bear in Heaven,
SGTMT verdict – There was some healthy competition for the ‘Y’ spot but yvynyl really can’t be messed with.
Firstly, they have a brilliant looking music blog. Simple layout, easy to navigate but great looking. Go tumblr.
Secondly, it’s not dull. Some bloggers spew line after line, paragraph after paragraph of nonsense, utter nonsense. Mercifully yvynyl keeps it simple, they dish up the tunes and give us 100 words max of expert, succinct summary.
Thirdly, and most importantly these guys are just ahead of the game. After 10 months on the blog treadmill I thought I had a fair handle on what was happening ‘in music’ right now. Foolish music blogger. However, yvynyl has blown me right out the water, about 90% of the artists they feature I’ve never heard of before and that’s not cos they suck, oh no, they’ve got some beauts on here. On yvynyl they have seriously good taste. Love it.
