In February we wrote about An Island, Efterklang’s magnificent album-length collaboration with filmmaker Vincent Moon. The film is a glimpse of the band in their natural habitat, on the small Baltic island of Als and features performances from the band collaborating with over 200 local musicians, children and the band’s parents. It’s a beautiful piece of work, a perfect introduction to the band for un-initiated and a nice accompaniment to the music for fans.
Some of you asked us at the time to let you know if and when the film gets a release and… it’s your lucky day! On Saturday, Efterklang’s Rasmus Stolberg emailed us to let us know that the band are making An Island available for download from today, ahead of a limited-edition deluxe DVD release in September which you can also pre-order now (bagging an instant download of the film and a bonus live EP in the process).
Rather than take advantage of the exclusive, I went to play football instead. Er, sorry about that… Still, at least now there’s no waiting for today and you can get right over to the An Island site to order the DVD or download the film for a price you can choose yourself. Be generous now.
If you didn’t catch one of the 1,200 screenings of the film across the world, either at Efterklang’s shows or hosted by the public in their homes, offices, schools and so on throughout February and March, here’s what you’re missing:
I’m downloading mine as I write.
