The Joy Formidable first appeared out of North Wales with Austere back in 2008 (below) but haven’t managed to get round to releasing their first album, The Big Roar, until this January. We don’t know what took them so long. What else is there to do in North Wales other than climb mountains and skim stones (they have a lot of slate, it’s good for skimming)?
During the ducks and drakes induced delay The Joy Formidable have produced an album with much merit to it and are re-releasing a bunch of tunes to promote it including Whirring (also below). They’re getting big airplay on Radio 1 at present and it seems they have a rosy 12 months ahead. Enjoy.
