I love nothing more than being in a deafening drum n bass sweatbox and hearing a record for the first time which grabs me right where I wasn’t expecting it.
The problem is my brain won’t let me just enjoy it and leave it at that. I have to find out what it is either by asking the DJ or doing detective work afterwards.
Occasionally it ends in tragedy and I can’t ever find out what it was, leaving the tune to haunt me forever. (I’m still wondering about one that I heard at hugely-missed club The End 8 years ago now, which I really must make my peace with soon).
