A few weeks ago we grumbled in a post about the lack of decent guitar bands. I’d love to write that this prompted an avalanche of emails, phone calls and people banging down the door (don’t do that btw, the missus won’t be happy) to rectify my narrow minded misjudgment of the British music scene. This didn’t happen. Instead there was just a pitiful dribble of emails from confused 17 year old’s who appear to think only 4 chords exist and some annoyingly awful American MOR folk / country / turd. Let the word go out to all of the known world, from this place, at this time – COUNTRY SUCKS. I’ll calm down now.
Amidst my rage I dismissed the email about The Collectable Few. More MOR, tobacco chewing pointlessness or adolescent inability I thought. However, after a few plays and some port induced consideration, I have to say – I like these chaps. I’d like to come up with some fitting comparisons like they sound similar to David Bowie mixed with Tina Turner (they don’t, that would be horrid) or some delightful, picturesque illustrations (flowers, sunny afternoons, sweaty socks etc). ‘Fitting comparisons or illustrations’ are good because bands put them on their myspace pages & in their press releases but today I can’t. I’m tired. So just listen and like or dislike.
Their first single Headstrong (below) comes out on the 24th January and they’ve also let us enjoy some free to download Glamour.
